It’s an iconic dance. Even if you’ve never tried it – or ever seen it danced live – you know what it is. Everyone does. We’ve seen it in movies, we can identify the music, and we know its reputation. Romantic, passionate… intense.
Sadly, although Alain and I have often sensed people are curious about tango, we’ve also felt their hesitation to give it a try – hearing objections like “It’s too difficult” (false), “I’m too young”(false), “I’m too old” (false!), “I don’t have a partner” (so?)
Tango, at its core, is a social dance. It’s a walking dance. It’s a dance based on communication. With the right instruction, it is not difficult to learn. It takes time, sure, but if you enjoy the process, and you’re developing a new skill, building confidence, and finding a new community of friends, then why rush anything? Tango will teach you to be present in the moment.
For the first time in years Alain and Cheryl are offering a Beginner Argentine Tango group session – Thursdays 8pm-9pm at Espaces des Arts in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn in a warm and inviting setting. For more details or to register, consult our Tango page. Classes start Thursday, January 26th, 2023. We hope you will join us!
